Dear People Whom God Loves,
...letters from the church bulletin.

25, 2010 Dear People Whom God Loves, GODS INTERACTION WITH THE WORLD XII Continuing with our reflection on the Incarnation. This is why we speak of God saving us and Jesus saving us. This Is the healing power of Love working in us. This is love freely giving himself. That is why we call salvation grace. That is why we call it gift. God is so incredibly beyond us and so incredibly close to us. When we speak of the mystery we name God, we often use thought that we cant logically put together. That is not surprising. If we could put God together in our logic, it wouldnt be God. God is love and love never abandons us. In our worst moments of sin or tragedy, we may feel abandoned, but we are not. Even Jesus had that terrifying experience on the cross as he cried out, My God, my God, why have you abandoned me. Though Jesus did not understand, he surrendered. Father, into your hands I commend my spirit. This is incredibly difficult. I dont do it very well myself. We are all called to move toward this surrender. We do it haltingly and imperfectly. Love is helping us all the time, even though most of the time we dont know it. Belief
in the Incarnation underlies our trust in the closeness and faithfulness
of God. God laughs with us, cries with us, suffers with us, and never
runs away. We are never abandoned. |
