Ministry Opportunities at St. Stanislaus 

 

Pastoral Ministry

 Volunteers provide a variety of outreach and ministry services to members who are homebound, hospitalized, or in nursing home addition, volunteers tape Mass, serve communion, and provide dinners. Volunteers serve in their preferred area and the times are set depending on the need in most cases. Volunteers are always needed. Due to the nature of the work, background checks are completed.

 

Funeral Lunches

 Funeral luncheons are held in the Parish Hall.  Volunteers set up the hall and tables, assist in laying out food provided by family, or caterers, and clean up afterwards. Three to four volunteers are needed for up to six hours per luncheon. More volunteers are welcome.

                                               

Funeral Choir

Parish Library

Volunteers shelve books in the library located in the Parish and maintain a check out system for parish members.

 

Community Charity Efforts

Food Shelf collections and deliveries are made each week. Special collections are taken up during Lent: for Missions, and in the event of disasters. Various collectionsare taken up during the year to help the needy.

 

Hall Rental

The church hall is available to rent for private events.  Private insurance is required by the Archdiocese.  Contact De for fees.

 

Social Justice Committee

This group has formed to partner with staff in charity and social justice efforts, grow the ministry, and address social justice issues.  The group meets in the church hall between 8AM and 10AM Masses on the first Sunday of the month.  All are welcome.

 

Loaves and Fishes

Loaves and Fishes – Volunteers from St. Stan’s join with other area church Volunteers to provide meals on a monthly basis, at St. Mathew’s School on the West Side.

 

Youth Group

Youth group is for youth in grades 7th – 12th.  It is a place for youth to grow in themselves, in community, and in Christ.  Confirmation preparation is done every

two years. Meetings are held each week with adult leaders and special events (retreats, service projects, trips to Boundary Waters, North Shore, and concerts) are planned. 

The Youth Group sponsors many charity efforts. New members are welcome.  Adult volunteers are needed for transportation.

 

Religious Education

Religious education programs (Sunday School, Reconciliation, Preparation for First Communion)are offered during and before Sunday Mass during school year months for preschoolers through sixth grade.  Registration occurs in early September.  Youth and adult volunteers needed as teachers and helpers.

The Craft Fair is held the first Saturday in October as a fundraiser for religious education programs.

 

Adult Choir

The adult choir rehearses and sings every 4th Sunday from September through May

 from 9AM – Noon(including 10AM Mass).  The choir is open for at least 20 members.  Anyone who likes to sing is invited to participate with a commitment of one season.  New members are needed.

 

Adult  Book Study

Adult Book Study meets the first Tuesday of each month from 7:00 to 8:30PM in the Parish Center Library.  Book(s) decided on by the group discussion and ?????

 

Women’s Spirituality Group

This is a group of women seeking spiritual growth in a group setting. Members meet once a week in small groups from September through May on Tuesdays from 5 to 6:30PM or on Thursday mornings from 9:30 to 11AM. The groups join together for two retreats and gather once pr month in the summer.  Attendance is flexible.

                       

Contemplative Prayer/Meditation

This group meets the third Thursday of each month in the parish center library from 7 – 8:15PM.  For more information contact John.

                       

Ministry Group

This group assists other ministries at St. Stanislaus to inform and welcome new members and participants.  A Ministry Sunday is held annually to give a chance for parishioners to meet with, learn about, and join with others involved in ministries.  The ministry group hosts and annual Newcomers’ Breakfast for new parish members.  The group also collects and distributes updated information about ministry efforts by church members and staff.

 

Caramel Roll Sundays

Caramel Roll Sunday is held on the first Sunday from October through May.  Caramel rolls are served after the 8AM and 10AM Masses in the church hall.  Three teams of volunteers set up on Saturday, bake the rolls Sunday, and serve from 7AM – noon (two shifts).  More volunteers are needed with a time commitment of three shifts per year.

                       

Knitting and Crochet Group

Help others stay warm this winter.  This group meets in the parish center Saturday mornings. Call Carolyn for dates.  The group makes mittens, hats, baby blankets, etc. for the Christmas Sharing Tree and other charitable organizations.  Come when you can; beginners welcome.
