Dear People Whom God Loves,

We have seen the change that comes from fostering only self-esteem.  What about fostering loving oneself?

From what I know, the only way that we learn love of our deep self is to be loved into it.  The more unconditional that love is, the more effective it becomes.  This loving does not mean doing for someone whatever they want you to do.  There are times to say no.  Sometimes knowing when to say yes and when to say no can be difficult to discern.

This loving does not mean that we always agree with the person.  It does not mean that we condone bad decisions and actions.  It does mean that we value the person and respect them when we think they are off track.  As much as possible, this valuing and respect must be made known to them.  Remember that, as humans, we will always do this imperfectly.

Only God will do this perfectly.  And it is important to realize that God’s love is unconditional and completely without strings attached.

In fact, it is through this time that our love must remain constant.  When love remains constant for us through these difficult times when we are off track that we begin to experience love for us and not love for what we do.  That is how we get loved into love.

When we don’t experience this love from humans, remember we are loved this way by this Love we name God.  We are never lost.  We are never not loved.

Smile, God Loves You,
Father Clay
